Q: I have “trenches” on my shoulders – or shall I say ‘in’ my shoulders!! –
that are unslightly. I’ve heard that these are caused by my bra straps. Is this true and is
there anything that I can do about this?
A: Yes! and Yes! Those trenches are caused by your bra straps, but only because
your bra is ‘dead’, meaning that the elastic in the bra band isn’t doing its job of supporting
you. Once a band loses its supporting qualities, either because it is old or perhaps wasn’t
strong enough even when it was new, it is definitely time to replace that bra!
Q: Whenever I go to buy a bra, I notice that the same size doesn’t always fit.
I know its not weight gain, so what’s going on?
A: Chances are you’re trying on bras produced by different manufacturers. Since there is no ‘standard’ sizing, a 34B from one manufacturer will not necessarily fit
the same as that size from another manufacturer.
Q: My breasts are two different sizes, something that I am self-conscious
about. Can having a custom bra made make the size difference less noticeable?
A: Yes! Because each person has a bra pattern drafted specifically for them,
size differences can be accommodated. If the difference is noticeable, or in your case if you
are self-conscious about the difference, that will be taken into consideration when the bra is
made so there will appear to be little or no difference in the cup sizes.
Q: My straps keep falling down!!! This is frustrating as well as occasionally
embarrassing. How can I keep them in place?
A: When bra straps keep falling down as we go about our daily activities, this
is indicative of the need to have them join the back band closer to your centre back. A custom
made bra rectifies this annoying problem.
Q: I found a lovely bra while out shopping. And it is sooo comfy! Now, when
I went back to the store to buy more, I can’t find them anywhere. Help!
A: Yes, I can help! Chances are you couldn’t find any because the manufacturer
has discontinued their production. Ready to wear (RTW) bras can be cloned, and without taking
them apart. So when you are fortunate enough to find a RTW bra in a style that you like and is
comfy to boot, cloning it is an excellent way to ensure that even if (more like when) the
manufacturer discontinues your favourite comfy style it will always be available to you.
Q: I’ve gained a little weight over the years and now hate to wear form-fitting
shirts and blouses because my ‘fluff’ shows. I just can’t bring myself to buy those uck
(in my opinion) and matronly white bras. I want colour! And lace! Would I be able to get colour
back into my life with custom made bras?
A: Yes!!! It would be my pleasure! Red, black, lilac, pink, orange, ivory,
gray, blue, fushia……..
Q: I’m full-figured, in my late twenties and uncomfortable with my breast size.
I want a breast reduction. I’ve spoken to people who encourage my want, and also those who
discourage me. My doctor says he would rather I waited for a bit, but I’m feeling desperate. A bit
daunted, too, as it is rather expensive. Could having a custom made bra make any difference?
A: I would definitely encourage you to come for a made to measure custom bra
before you make your final decision. A made to measure bra can contain such features as increased
support, wider than normal comfy padded straps, and a wider band for more support. Plus the cup
volume and underwire can be adjusted to your specific needs.
Q: Every time I try to wear a bra with underwires, they end up poking and pinching me
and the bra ends up in the back of my dresser drawer. And yet it seems to be the wired bras that offer
the more interesting styles. Is there any help for me?
A: There most certainly is! During the measuring consultation for a made to measure
bra, you will be specifically fitted for the size of underwires that fit you. When the wires are
correctly fitted, you will then be able to wear an underwired bra and not even know that the wires
are there.
